Kevin cured Judy's phobia of everything feathered - live on air

In early 1988 a new daytime programme format was tried out with the relatively unknown Richard Madely and Judy Finnegan – it was an instant success. The chemistry of the sparky husband and wife team was irresistible for viewers.

Kevin had previously made several appearances on ‘The Big Breakfast’ with Chris Evans and the BBC’s ‘Good Morning’ with Anne Diamond and Nick Owen, and it wasn’t long before this consummate professional telly couple realised that animals were a draw for their viewers.

From then on Kevin was in constant demand by the programme supplying everything – furry, feathered or scaly. Kevin was constantly challenged by ‘This Morning’.

It was the only regular daytime programme that had a constant stream of animals featured on the show. Kevin would be asked for absolutely anything – Spiders and snakes for items on phobias – with Paul McKenna to goats and sheep – for wool spinning to make into garments live on the show. There was even a Jersey Cow milked live on the show to produce the milk for use in a cookery item.

Kevin has supplied hundreds of animals during the eleven years he was involved with the programme - even getting his first opportunity of presenting on the show when Richard and Judy were stuck in the snow one day.

He had to present the item for the ‘This Morning Pet of the Year’ competition – it was hilarious.
