Suggesting that I could be pretending to mate two bulldogs in a scene was probably not such a good idea in hindsight .....8 hours on your knees can play havoc with your joints Kevin is often called upon by T.V. producers to advise on new scripts and storylines for some of the telly’s most popular programmes. Three years ago he invited Brian Park, who used to be the producer of Coronation Street, amongst other things, to The Crufts Dog Show at Birmingham NEC. Kevin thought it would make a fantastic backdrop for a future drama and couldn’t understand why no one had thought to use it. Brian, who now heads Shed Productions and makes such programmes as Footballers Wives, Bad Girls and Waterloo Road, turned up with the script writer, Simon Nye (who created ‘Men Behaving Badly’) to see if such a programme was possible. They were captivated with their experience 24,000 dogs over 4 days, all competing for the ultimate title of ‘Best in Show.’ Fast forward to 2007 and Shed have produced a cracking drama. If it’s a success it is possible that we may see a series in the future. Kevin also makes a guest appearance as Oliver – The Pet Expert. He had no grand design to appear in the programme, but the executive producer Spencer Campbell thought he could do it. Watch out for the scene where he attempts to mate two bulldogs. See what you think, although he won’t be expecting a BAFTA anytime soon!
